Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission was constituted by Government of Rajasthan vide Notification dated 10.12.1999 under the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998. Shri Arun Kumar Chief Secretary to the Government was appointed as the first Chairman of the Commission and Shri Shanti Prasad Member (Transmission-NPP) of Rajasthan State Electricity Board as first Member. The Commission became functional on 2.1.2000 with taking oath of office and secrecy by the Chairman and Member. The Secretary of the Commission Shri Prabhat Dayal, an Indian Administrative Service Officer joined his duties on 10th January 2000.
Rajasthan Power Sector Reforms Act, 1999 become effective from 1st June 2000 and the Commission became the first Commission as per provision of Section 3 of the Rajasthan Power Sector Reforms Act, 1999.
The office of the Commission is situated at Shed No. 5, Vidhyut Bhawan, Vidhyut Marg, Jyoti Nagar, Jaipur 302 005.
